Some of the best movies are based on stories by authors from smaller publishers. The value in that is clear. At the big book expos worldwide production companies send their literary people to find a diamond in the rough story for adapatation to film. Nightengale Press experienced that firsthand.
When a book is selected, few moviegoers will read the book first, but to the author's benefit, many may choose to read the book once they've seen the movie.
